In April 2024, a swarm of bees literally came to our farm when I summoned them! I have always been in awe of the work bees do for us all, and I believe that local honey is a life-giving elixir. Becoming a beekeeper was something I always wanted to do.
When the swarm of bees gathered around our truck as I was pulling out of the yard, I immediately began recording the swarm and caught quite a bit of footage as they buzzed around me. In between videoing, I sent the good news "SOS" to my beekeeper friends with the phrase, "they heard me and came!" Soon enough, the swarm settled into a low-lying forsythia bush. Once suited up, my friends and I lovingly directed the basketball-sized swarm into their new home on City Farm Boonsboro.
When you see a good old American barn, bet you can find barn cats there. When we arrived at Greener Pastures Family Farm in 2019, we were fortunate to encounter a wonderful group of barn cats ready to welcome us. Over the years, we bid farewell to some of the original cats and embraced new needy cats. City Farm Boonsboro is now proudly home to the remaining Greener Pasture’s barn cats, and we welcome new additions from local feral cat communities regularly. We also take joy in nurturing the free-roaming neighborhood cats, providing them with food, water, and cozy beds inside a designated part of our barn onthose chilly Maryland evenings.

Honey Harvest
Our love for farm animals is immense, and living a self-sustaining life with the help of our farm animals is crucial to us. While City Farm cows do exist, they are raised on a larger, more accommodating farm.
Here on City Farm Boonsboro, we raise our free-ranging, happy egg layers. The Hen House provides a comfortable and safe home for our ladies. Most days, they roam freely around the property, enjoying bugs, and often join us on the front porch to relax. Their eggs are available year-round, and beginning next spring, we will offer local bi-weekly delivery within 20 miles.
